Three years later, I've played ridiculous amounts of World of WarCraft. I still am. It's kind of cute to read the kind of stuff I wrote five years ago.

January 13th, 2006

I really like WarCraft lore, and I'm a bit pissed that they ruined it so much in World of WarCraft, so it would work better for a MMORPG. Blood Elves joining Horde. Forsaken joining Horde. Suddenly giving all Night Elves Shadowmeld, and having Azeroth littered with Naga, Draenai and Blood Elves when they're supposed to be back on Outland with Illidan. Balnazzar suddenly returning from the dead without explanation. Changing Garona from half-human to half-draenai just because they messed up the timeline. Not to mention there's really no reason for the two factions to be at all-out war in the first place.

So I don't play WoW anymore. I stopped a couple of months ago, I think some time in summer. I'm pretty sure I'll buy a new gamecard when the expansion hits. I really like the idea of playing a Blood Elf, especially now that I don't have to set foot in ugly Orgrimmar anymore.

I've been replaying the WarCraft III and Frozen Throne campaigns, and they're still a lot of fun. You know what I'd really love? A single-player WarCraft RPG. Have it set up so you could play different storylines, sort of like the campaigns in WarCraft III, but focus it on only a few heroes. It would kick ass. We would have proper endings to storylines. Instead of just "forty people spent twenty minutes casting Arcane Missiles on Illidan and then he died", we'd have a duel between storyline characters and stuff.

I've run out of books to read, I need to get some new ones. I want to try something of Guy Gavriel Kay's.

I swear, AF is the only site where I've forgotten my userID/password nine times or something. typh is gonna kill me. Oh, and I went back to FF again. Can't live without AdBlock and FlashBlock. I haven't learned my lesson either, I'm still not backing up my bookmarks. Been playing WoW. Bought it, and played the first free month. It just expired a few days ago, so I'm taking a break right now. I'll get a gamecard when I can afford it and I don't have anything else to do with the money. Fun, fun game but I definitely see flaws in the end-game. Got Tekken 5 and played it quite a bit. I wasn't one of those who thought T4 was an awful game, but this is an improvement. Devil Jin rocks.

Firefox just deleted all of my bookmarks for the last time. I'm going back to Opera. Damn FF didn't even have a working backup system, and every thread about it on the support forums just says the same thing "check this and that file, firefox made a new profile, import from bookmarks.html". There's no new profile and there's no bookmarks in the backup files. "Oh well then you're screwed." Yeah, thanks a lot. Say what you will about bloated, insecure IE, but at least it never deleted all of my settings and bookmarks. I'm gonna miss AdBlock, though.

World of WarCraft has been the main game I've played for months now. With the EU release a week away, I guess it's time to really really decide if I want to pay to play. Romulus just ordered it, he's trapped in teh web of teh blizard omg. Got a DVD burner too, so lots of illegality will follow with my PS2. I have Prince of Persia: Warrior Within but I haven't tried it yet. I'm hesitant. Don't much care for the shift in attitude.

Alright, back to rebuilding my entire bookmark library. Screw you Mozilla Foundation.

Sometimes I wonder why I do the things I do at that particular time. Why am I updating the AF profile now? Any particular reason I'm not playing Doom 3 (well, beside that it isn't all that fun?) I could kick Raist off the other computer and play some Frozen Throne, but no. I'm randomly surfing some pages and suddenly I update this little thing. I stole the "Bio" table code from typh and changed it around some down there.

Well, I finished the new WarCraft book "War of the Ancients Trilogy Book 1 - Well of Eternity" and I found it pretty good. I wonder why he did the whole timetravel thing. Rhonin is a pretty cool character, but I think it'd be better to focus on Illidan, Malfurion and Tyrande rather than bring back two guys from his previous book as well as some random orc and make them travel back in time.

Gamewise, I got my hands on Doom 3 and it was pretty much as I thought it was gonna be. Pretty, kinda scary, but also dull. It will be nice to see what kind of kick-ass games can be done with the engine. I also play a bunch of Super Smash Brothers Melee with Rom and Raist quite often. And yesterday I played Frozen Throne with NovaSeaker. Otherwise it's all quiet on the gaming front. Actually, no, since it's been a while since April (a third of a year actually) I have played more stuff. Thief 3 was so-so. My computer has problems with that engine, really, and unlike DX2 I didn't feel like playing through the game despite that. Played through KOTOR yet again (fun but I think five times is enough until a long long time has passed) and got a hankering for some classic Baldur's Gate II fun too. Maybe I should actually finish Throne of Bhaal for once. I'm also replaying Prince of Persia: Sands of Time again. Bloody fantastic game.

Let's see, what else. Oh, I bought the Alias game, trying very hard to convince myself that an Alias story that fit into the continuity of the show was worth an average gameplay experience, but no dice. The story wasn't even very good. I sold it. I bought Arc: Twilight of the Spirits and Rise to Honour but have yet to even try any of them. Playing Metroid Prime too. Be nice to complete a game before Romulus for once. Well not "for once" since most of the time I do complete them before him, but still, it happens the other way around a lot. Not too long ago I also replayed Suikoden III. Also great game. Will probably replay in the not-so-distant future. And I guess I should play more of Wind Waker, it's wholly uninviting sea-travel thing aside.

I'm also thinking of making a personal website, but then again, this profile kind of serves my needs anyway. I don't know what it would be about anyway. I played around with CSS and made a site for Romulus's Frozen Throne clan KoMa, but I don't really feel like giving them it since most of the guys are either clueless idiots or annoying arrogant fuckers. Like 7 or 8 of them are really really cool, though. I'll probably end up remaking the site (if one can call a simplistic design with just a little text a 'site') for some other purpose.

Well, that's all for now. No more ranting. You know what? It's not really ranting. It's more of a stream-of-thought think about specific thinks. I guess more of a blog. I should rename it. I will do so. Actually, I'll remove the header completely. I wonder if people read this?

So I turned twenty the day before yesterday. Yay me. Also, typhoon is a merciful god, because he let me change my account name back to Phoenix again.

Flare gave me massive moderator powers over at Mists of Antalya. The first step in my master plan to conquer the known universe. I have, of course, conveniently forgotten the part where my previous first step (being allowed to post on the front page of the East/Westsidaz Coalition) meant the site was discontinued shortly afterwards.

Anyway, I'm in the process of moving things around, and editing stuff (which was the main reason I wanted moderator powers). We need more writers there. The quality of the writers already there is astounding, but we have plenty of room for more. Well, at least after the current story-arc is finished.

I went through my bookshelf not too long ago and found a trilogy I'd almost forgotten. The Darksword Trilogy, by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. I'd read it once before, and enjoyed it. It has now passed enough time that I've forgotten some of the plot twists, so I forsee an enjoyable read.

I'm gonna go type up Talin at Mists I think. And also the new Antar. As that hack Vaulander say: Cheerio!

March 9th, 2004

typh, don't kill me. I forgot my User ID again. But never again! It's 1071, Phoenix! 1071! (Or rather, Daredevil, since typh banned me from creating accounts named Phoenix)

Alright, so what else is up? Pepsi > Coke. Unquestionable. FFX > FFX-2, but who's surprised? FFX-2 is fun, though. But when I finished it, it made me want to play FFX again. So I did. Then I finally (omg) started on Kingdom Hearts. Fun, fun, fun! Couldn't get stupid Joan of Arc working on my computer. Simpsons: Hit And Run worked fine, though. Think GTA: Springfield and you've got the entire game in a nutshell. Also fun.

I want to see a cool movie. I saw Kill Bill Vol. 1 today, and it really got me in a movie mood. Let's see what I can do about that.

January 28th, 2004

I take too long between rants. Oh well, at least I type a lot, not just a line or two. So what's up with me? A whole lot of nothing, in fact. Fascinating and extraodinarily interesting, I'm sure. I guess I'll resort to talking about gaming, since that's basically what I do all the time. That or randomly surfing around on a bunch of pages. Like Adventurers!, Penny Arcade, PvP Online, Eidos Interactive forums (the Deus Ex and Legacy of Kain forums), Legacy of Kain: The Lost Worlds, WarCraft Replays, The X Axis, and a bunch of others I either can't remember or am too lazy to type out.

Alright, after this linking marathon I should probably write what games I've been playing. Well, I finished KotOR (Knights of the Old Republic) two more times. One as dark (damn, that game gives you opportunities to be incredibly devious and evil.) and another as light again. I'm still slowly making my way through Blood Omen 2. It's not that it's a bad game, or that it's very hard, I just don't feel like playing it most of the time. LOK: Defiance made it's position in the ongoing storyline very important, though. Damn, I want a new Legacy of Kain game. Gonna take a couple of years for that, though. Also, I finished Shadows of Undrentide, and then went through the bridge-module Shadohaunt, and then completed Hordes of the Underdark. Those three was much better than the original Neverwinter Nights campaign, and the last parts of Hordes almost had a Baldur's Gate II-level of quality. So far only KotOR has matched that awesome RPG. I got bored on Diablo 2 quite quickly, as expected. My internet has been sucking grade-A quality donkey schlong for the last few months, so playing WarCraft III online hasn't been an option. Which sucks. Because I really need to get better at that.

Oh, Christmas presents. I got a GameCube with Mario Party 4 and Metroid Prime. Soon afterwards I went out and bought Zelda: Wind Waker, Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart: Double Dash. So far, Mario Kart has been very fun. Smash Brothers, too, but I think it's a bit too chaotic for a real fighting game. I have played very little Metroid so far, but as of yet it hasn't really grabbed me. I'm sure it will later on, since everyone seems to love it. Zelda so far is very fun, but I'm not too far into that either. Just reached a Forest Island of some sort. Completed the Dragon Cave dungeon or whatever it was called. It's definitely got the Zelda spirit, although I still wished they made Link a cool bad-ass and not a small kiddie-type of guy.

Alright, that's enough. End of Rant.

December 22th, 2003

Hot damn. The new layout owns. In gaming news, I got my hands on Legacy of Kain: Defiance, and I'm about 11 hours in. So far it owns. Great battle system, and the story is as good as the rest of the LOK games. Rommy is playing Kingdom Hearts right now. Sounds very upbeat and cool. I'm gonna have to play it after I'm done with Defiance. Put some (and by some, I mean lotsa) hours into D2: LOD, playing with a friend and his friend. When you don't think about it very much, it's something you can sink an incredible amount of time into. But if you start wondering about it, you'll get bored so fast. Anyway. I think Christmas is fun.

December 4th, 2003

A month later... No news is good news, I guess. Games I've played to completion the last month: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Both are extraordinarily great games. Top Ten material. KOTOR is a long epic with a fantastic story and well-developed characters. Sands of Time, on the other hand is a short, sweet experience filled with the smoothest gameplay, the most fitting story and the coolest acrobatics I've ever seen in a game. Get them both. NOW! Still have lots of games left to play, though. Which is nice. Finally, after so much trouble (long story) saw Terminator 3. Thought it was really good. Much better then I expected. No Sarah Connor, though. A shame. She rules.

The Christmas/Winter theme for AF is cool. It's a good thing you have me for advise, typh. Who knows what would be in place of the lesbian star if you hadn't discussed it with me?

November 4th, 2003

I'm bored. Lately I haven't had anything to do, really. I spend time just thinking about stuff, and that's no good. Thinking about school is depressing, as is thinking about the future. I've watched over 50 episodes of Angel in the last few days, though. God damn awesome show. I've already said that, but it's worth mentioning again. Almost done with Antioch Wars. Then I need to find something new to do. I think maybe I should install Freedom Force and play that. I would play PS2, except my dad stole my TV, cause his broke. Won't get it back for two weeks. Crap. I need to finish all those games I have. Probably will finish Blood Omen 2 first. Then more Midnight Club 2. Oh, and Kingdom Hearts. And GTA 3 really deserves another play-through. And on the computer I have Freedom Force and Divine Divinity. And of course Neverwinter Nights and its expansion. The first No One Lives Forever, too. And the Fallout games. Jeezes, I have a lot of stuff to play. And yet I feel like I don't have anything to do. Weird, that.

November 2nd, 2003.

So everyone and their mother seems to have made their personal page sort of a blog, and I figured I wouldn't be any worse. Go, go, blog. Or rather, "Ranting", as the header says. As usual I have nothing to say really, but I figure I can just sit here and randomly press buttons on the keyboard to see if it makes any pretty words. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Hello. Brogelsni. See? Anyway, more people should watch Angel and Buffy. Damn good shows, most of the time. Also, Eliza Dushku is really hot. Seen that new show of hers, Tru Calling? I like that she runs. She runs a lot. And there's bouncing birthday cookies, too. Yay. I need to finish my play-through of the Antioch Wars Chapter 1 SE Beta today. Actually, I should get started on that pretty soon. I think I'm gonna take a bath first. Baths are nice.
