Some things:

The line breaks have doubled-up (try editing a page, and you'll see what I mean), since all of our pretty 0D0A Windows line breaks count as two breaks on Unix.

Another thing to remember is that file names are case sensitive now. So a lot of stuff is suddenly broken because you fools didn't keep your case consistent between the actual file name and the file you linked to.

The anonymous FTP is down. The next iteration of the site will allow HTTP uploads, though.

But the domain is pretty now.

Oh, and Eras did a bunch of stuff.

30 October 2003 20:10

typhoon

I have the site working on Avatar's server. I.e., it'll move to http://www.antiochforever.com/ soon.

27 October 2003 01:25

typhoon

Here's an update for anyone who cares...

(*crickets*)

...or in any case, for my own sake in getting everything organized. Here's all the interesting stuff that's up:

Since Starcraft 1.10 apparently broke support for earlier replays, I'm running an FSGS server for anyone who wants to run 1.08 instead (or for that matter, any other version before 1.10). This is primarily an effort to make me feel like I didn't completely waste a year of my life updating the Starcraft Replay Vault. Windows users can download the registry patch to add it to your gateways list. If people actually use it, I'll keep it up.

There have been a lot of little cosmetic changes recently. A violet/red color scheme has replaced the grey/grey one, for instance. Props to [[Phal]] for lending a hand with that.

[[Erasculio]] has done an excellent job of adding five short stories to the [[Antioch]] section.

The [[Fiction]] section has a couple of big forumer sagas plus a bunch of junk taken from the even-more-dead-now-than-last-week-somehow East-West Coalition site.

All three of [[Magnum]]'s forum cast pictures are up in the [[Features]] section. His bio page has an analysis of his last (real)one too.

There's also, at long last, [[The Quotes Page]], which no one is ever going to use, ever.

[[Phal]] has a page of [[Random Stuff Courtesy of Phalanx]]. It has some really slick artwork. His bio page also has his CD collection, which he'll add reviews to eventually. I also deleted all of his front page updates, much to his surprise when he checks back here, to reduce clutter.

Most of the other sections have something up now. Chatter regarding the maintenance of the site now goes on the aptly named [[Chatter]] page.

As for the next iteration of this site, its necessity is being re-evaluated. Most likely, I'll get this site working on Avatar's web space again (with all the content transferred), making periodic tweaks to the engine as necessary, and then, y'know, find better uses of my time than rewriting this site every month. I've recognized that this site exists more of an archive than anything people will be actively interested in, so I think this system is good enough. But we'll see.

11 October 2003 19:00

typhoon

Welcome to the temporary Antioch Forever page. The core engine is up, the content isn't. That's where you come in, y'see.

Brief overview of how the system works: You are free to edit any page. Even this one. But don't edit this one. If you want to play around with it and can't think of any constructive means of doing it, take it to the [[Sandbox]]. (To prevent abuse of the system, your IP will be logged and made publicly available, and all pages can be restored to previous versions by anyone.)

To create a new page, simply link to it. I.e., if you wanted to add the Great VSP/WASTE Saga, you'd click the [[Fiction]] link up at the menu above, edit it, add [[The Great VSP/WASTE Saga]] by typing "The Great VSP/WASTE Saga" surrounded by double brackets, and click on the handy question mark next to it to get an equally handy edit page. All recent changes will be logged on the, uh, [[RecentChanges]] page, so keep an eye on that for the newest content.

Logging in is unnecessary. To create a new account, by the way, click on Preferences. To log in, you must use your user ID and not your user name. Yeah, this system sucks. The next one'll probably be linked to your forum account.

If you need to upload a file to use in your page, use the following FTP login:

Host: bluelight.homedns.org
Port: 21
User: antioch
Password: forever

And the files will end up in the "files/" subdirectory.

It's a bit rough around the edges, but dine and I are rewriting the guts of it in PHP, and Phalanx has already completed an über-sexy new design for it. That one shouldn't take as long to get up. Try not to worry about the limitations of this one, since it won't be sticking around for very long (do give me your suggestions, though; in fact, here's a [[Suggestions Box]]). For now, feel free to contribute whatever you want (all the content from will be ported over to the new one).
