Not only is the name Antioch synonymous with Protoss bravery, Fenix's death, and quality //StarCraft// campaigns, but thanks to our friends at [http://www.sclegacy.com/ SC Legacy], we know now that it also has a lot of connections to the real world. Antioch is a small city northeast of San Francisco, California, nestled not too far from the insanely talented folks at Blizzard North. It is reportedly an old shopping center located somewhere in Kansas City. It was a city near Israel, as mentioned in the Bible. It was also an ancient Greek city in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey). It's no wonder there are so many Latin references in the Protoss unit names and in the quotations on Blizzard's Protoss Census Report page. In a comic turn, some of you might remember the Monty Python movie, //The Search for the Holy Grail//, in which the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch was used to destroy a killer rabbit. For fantasy fans, the names Aiur and Antioch can also be found in J.R.R. Tolkien's series of books on Middle Earth. He was one of the first, if not the first, to write about the conflict between Orcs and Humans. ;-) Coincidence? This exceeds even my wildest dreams! Antioch is everywhere! Okay, so it's not due to my campaign, but you don't have to tell anyone, do you? ;-) I'd like to thank DeathViper and Shock of SC Legacy, who made the initial posts, as well as all those who provided them with their insight on the matter. Keep on the lookout. You never know where Antioch might pop up. --[[Auspex Turmalis]], August 16, 1998 {{antiochcopyright}}
